Description

The Statue of Thomas Gainsborough, located on the north side of Market Hill, was created by Sir Bertram Mackennal in 1913. This bronze figure stands on a stone pedestal and depicts Gainsborough holding a palette and brush. There is no inscription on the statue, but it features his name and the dates 1727-1788. The statue is situated opposite the west end of St Peter's Church.
