Royal Hospital School And Walls Attached To Right And Left

The Royal Hospital School consists of a pair of houses built around 1925 to 1933 by Buckland and Heywood. The buildings are constructed of red brick with hanging tiles on the first floor and feature a hipped dark red plain tiled roof. There are chimney stacks on the central and both sides of the buildings. A central band runs across the façade. The houses are two storeys high and have a six-window range. The first-floor windows are small paned vertically sliding sashes, while the ground floor features angled bays on the right and left, along with two central tripartite small paned vertically sliding sashes, all with moulded surrounds. There are two raised and fielded six-panelled doors, also with moulded surrounds, and flat canopies supported by moulded and fluted brackets beneath the second and fifth windows. Red brick walls attached to the front angles extend through the staff accommodation houses of the School, leading to round-headed panelled gates that provide access to the rear gardens.
