Description
The Royal Hospital School, built between 1925 and 1933 by Buckland and Heywood, is a house made of red brick with lighter brick panels below the first-floor windows, which are framed by darker brick dressings. It features a hipped dark red plain tiled roof with chimneystacks on both ends. The building is two stories high and has a seven-window range of small paned vertically sliding sash windows with moulded surrounds and gauged arches. There is a circular window with small paned glazing on the first floor and a central six-panel door with a moulded stone surround, raised lugs, a frieze, and a pediment. To the left, there is an attached wall with a panelled gate set in a round-headed arch, connecting the house to a single-storey garage made of similar materials, which has a hipped roof and panelled doors. The house is positioned at the north entrance to the main range of the school and forms a pair with No 46.
