Royal Hospital School and Attached Walls to Right and Left

The Royal Hospital School consists of a block of four houses built around 1925 to 1933 by Buckland and Heywood. The structure is made of red brick with hanging tiles on the first floor and features a central band. It has a dark, plain tiled roof with forward hipped gables on both the right and left sides, and three chimneystacks along the central ridge. The building is two storeys high and has a window arrangement of 1:6:1, featuring small paned vertically sliding sashes with moulded surrounds. The ground floor windows have gauged brick arches, and there are two-storey angled bays at the right and left gables. There are four six-panel doors with moulded surrounds and flat canopies on brackets, located to the right and left of the gables and centrally positioned in front of each pair of windows in the central range. The central pedestrian entrance has a square head. Attached red brick walls at the front angles extend through the staff accommodation houses of the school, featuring panelled gates and round-headed arches that lead into the rear gardens.
