Royal Hospital School

The Royal Hospital School is a house built around 1925 to 1933 by Buckland and Heywood. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, accented with darker brick dressings, and features a hipped dark red plain tiled roof. The building has two storeys and a symmetrical facade with seven bays. The central entrance is framed by a stone doorcase that has raised lugs, a frieze, and a detached pediment. The door itself consists of six raised and fielded panels, each surrounded by a raised moulding. On either side of the door are three narrow vertical horned sash windows with glazing bars, each containing two rows of four panes. The first floor has six similar windows, along with a central circular light that also has glazing bars. The windows are topped with flat-headed arches and have flush surrounds made of the darker brick, which creates a vertical feature that connects the windows of both storeys, resembling an apron for the upper floor windows. There is a brick band at the cill level of the ground floor windows.
