Description
The Royal Hospital School is a house built around 1925 to 1933 by architects Buckland and Heywood. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, accented with darker brick dressings, and features a hipped dark red plain tiled roof. The building has two storeys and a symmetrical facade with seven bays.
At the center, there is a stone doorcase with raised lugs, a frieze, and a detached pediment. The door consists of six raised and fielded panels, each surrounded by a raised moulded frame. Flanking the door are three narrow vertical horned sash windows with glazing bars, each containing two rows of four panes. The first floor has six similar windows, along with a central circular light that also has glazing bars. The windows are topped with flat-headed arches and have flush surrounds made of the darker brick, which continues as a vertical feature linking the windows of each storey, resembling an apron for the upper floor windows. A brick band runs at the cill level of the ground floor windows.
