Description

The Obelisk immediately west of No 18 is an 18th-century stone structure located on the east side of High Street in Nayland with Wissington. It features a moulded pedestal plinth and a ball finial. The shaft of the obelisk is inscribed on three sides with mileages: the north face reads "8 miles to Hadleigh," the west face states "55 miles from London - 26 miles from Chelmsford - 22 miles to Bury," and the south face indicates "6 miles to Colchester."
