Description
No 12 on High Street is a 15th to 16th century timber-framed and plastered house featuring two gables on the west front. The north gable has a jettied upper storey. The south front exhibits characteristics of a Wealden house, with a jettied wing at the west end and a brick underbuilt wing at the east end. The central section is recessed, with the roof extending over and supported by curved brackets from the wings. The house has two storeys and a two-window range on the west front, primarily consisting of double-hung sashes with glazing bars. There is a modern oriel bow window on the ground floor of the south gable. The south front windows are casements with leaded lights. A central six-panel door with a rectangular fanlight is framed by a doorcase featuring fluted pilasters and a flat hood on brackets. The roof is covered with old tiles.
