Description

Clare Cottage is a 17th-century timber-framed house with plaster infill, originally known as Laurel Cottage. The front facade is rendered to resemble ashlar. A large oval plaster wreath, incorporating an ornamental device with the initials "L" over "IH" and the date 1690, is displayed on the front. The house has two storeys, with a three-window arrangement on the upper storey featuring two-light leaded casement windows, and a two-window arrangement on the ground storey using double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. There is a single doorway and a small cart entrance at the east end. The roof is tiled, with a central cruciform chimney stack. The building is listed for its significance within a group of buildings.
