Description
The Yeoman's House is a house that has been divided into two residences, primarily dating from the 17th century with later alterations. It features a timber frame with a brick skin that is rendered and whitewashed on the front, topped with a machine tile roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, arranged in three bays.
The central entrance consists of a panelled half-glazed door, flanked by a late 19th-century canted bay window on each side, both featuring sash windows and set beneath a jetty on the first floor. The jetty is supported by four pairs of scrolled brackets. The first floor is articulated by pilaster strips that frame three unhorned sash windows with glazing bars, all within moulded surrounds. The windows have hoods supported by acanthus consoles, and there are paired acanthus brackets beneath the eaves cornice. The roof is gabled with internal gable-end stacks.
Access to No. 14 is through a door located within a rebated section to the south. The rear of the building includes a late 19th-century outshut with two stacks. Inside No. 14, plain bridging beams and principal studs are visible, along with arched braces in the end walls. The purlin roof is boarded and mostly hidden. The interior of No. 16 has not been inspected but is expected to be of greater interest.
