Description

The Congregational Church, now known as the United Reformed Church, was built in 1715 and enlarged to the north in 1815, with the facade updated in 1877. It is constructed of brick and features a roof made of black glazed pantiles. The building has two storeys and a three-bay facade topped by a pediment. The central doorway is round-arched and set within a square surround, flanked by one sash window on each side, with three additional sash windows on the first floor. The pediment includes a lunette and is adorned with machine-cut architectural decoration. The sides of the church have four sash windows on each floor, separated by a platband. The southern portion of the building, featuring burnt headers, relates to the original 1715 construction, while the northern half corresponds to the 1815 enlargement. The roof is gabled.

Inside, the church has a gallery on the south, east, and west sides, supported by entactic unfluted columns. The gallery is simply panelled, and the roof is flat-boarded. Under the gallery, in the "aisles," there are one chamfered and tongue-stopped rafter on each side, dating back to 1715. Adjacent to the church is a cemetery, bordered to the south by a brick wall and to the south and east by a low brick wall that supports a run of iron railings.
