Description

This is a terrace of three houses located on The Street, Costessey. The core of the central house (number 117) dates to the late 17th century, with the flanking houses (numbers 115 and 119) added as lean-tos in the 18th century, and subsequently heightened in the 19th century. The buildings are constructed of brick walls with a pantiled roof. The central house is built of small red bricks with dark brick headers. It features sash windows with glazing bars and a front door dating from around 1980. Inside the central house, there is an 18th-century panelled room with raised and fielded panels, a moulded cornice, a dado rail, and a coved recess with ribs springing from a gilded pewter shell. A bedroom is partially panelled and contains an 18th-century door. The flanking houses, each of three bays, have sash windows and are included in the listing primarily for their contribution to the group value of the terrace.
