Description
This is a former farmhouse that has been divided into separate dwellings, dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. The building is constructed of timber frame, with some parts rendered, some refaced with brick, and others displaying an exposed timber frame. The gable ends are a mix of brick and flint, and the roofs are covered in pantiles. The layout is in an āLā shape. The south wing is a single storey with an attic, while the refaced 16th-century east wing is two storeys high. The windows are mostly modern, although some original 2 and 3-light casements with leaded lights remain. The entrances have simple planked doors. Four dormers are set into the roof of the south wing. Original blocked window openings can be seen in the south gable end. The roofs are steeply pitched, and there are three chimneys placed along the main axes of the building. The east wing was originally a large open hall, with a floor inserted in the 18th century. A contemporary brick and flint wall adjoins the west side of the south wing, featuring a fragmentary moulded brick coping. One brick jamb and a date stone, possibly original, bear raised figures indicating the year 1674.
