Description
Marlingford Mill is a former watermill that has been converted into workshops. It dates from the 18th and 19th centuries and features a mix of colour-washed brick and weather-boarded timber framing, topped with pantiled roofs. The building has an irregular layout and is primarily three to four stories high, with attics. Many original cast-iron windows with glazing bars can be found beneath segmental arches in the brickwork. To the east, there is a surviving wheel-pit with an arch-braced jettied gable above it. A gabled structure is located to the north. Inside, there are two 18th-century roofs supported by wedge-tenoned butt-purlins, along with fragmentary remains of bins and chutes, as well as an electricity generating turbine.
