Description

Octagon Court comprises a former house, converted in the 18th century into a factory and subsequently into flats. The building was renovated in the 20th century. It has a red brick exterior and a pantile roof. The principal elevation is set at a right angle to the street line, with three storeys and seven bays arranged in groups of 2:4:1, each group set back. A 20th-century door with a rectangular fanlight and pedimented hood is located in the centre bay. A single-storey canted bay window is in the right-hand bay. The ground floor features sash windows with glazing bars and rubbed brick flat arches. The first floor has sash and mullion-and-transom windows, while the second floor features sash and casement windows. A moulded bracket cornice sits over the central bay, with a fascia and box cornices over the outer bays. Rebuilt rusticated brick quoins are located on the right side, with a wide brick stringcourse extending between the ground and first floors on the six-bay street elevation. Inside, there is good 18th-century panelling and door surrounds.
