Description
Nos. 31 and 33 on St. Giles Street are former houses that have been converted into a dental surgery and hairdressers. Originally built in the 17th century, they were refaced and heightened in the late 18th century, with a 16th-century rear block. The buildings are constructed of red brick, with a flint and brick rear block, and feature pantiles on the roof. The street-facing section is four storeys high and consists of four bays. It has a central double doorcase supported by three Tuscan columns and two pilasters, topped with a wide semi-elliptical fan-light that includes glazing bars and a rubbed brick arch. The ground floor has sash windows with glazing bars set in recessed panels, featuring segmental arches above. Sash windows with glazing bars and rubbed brick flat arches are present throughout the building.
