Description
64 The Close is a former house, now used as offices and flats. It dates from the 19th century but contains medieval remains. The building features a flint north wall and is constructed of red brick with a slate roof. It has a T-shaped plan with a double-pile range of unequal length. The north wall includes two blocked stone arches.
The east facade has three storeys, with one bay set back. It consists of four bays plus two additional bays to the right that project forward. The windows are sash style throughout, with rubbed brick segmental arches above them. To the right, there is a two-storey canted bay. A stringcourse runs between the floors, and there is a sawtooth cornice at the top. The roof is hipped, and two bowtell moulded shafts are embedded in the internal ground floor wall.
