Description
No. 65 The Close is a building that was formerly part of the Infirmarer's house and is now used as an office. It has medieval origins and features from the 16th century, with extensions added in the 18th and 19th centuries. The ground floor is constructed of flint and brick, while the upper floor is timber framed and covered with mathematical tiles. There are brick extensions as well, and the building has a pintile roof. It stands two storeys tall, with the first floor jettied. A single-storey rear extension from the 19th century is also present. The first floor has six closely spaced windows, along with one 18th-century bay window to the left. To the left of the building, there is a fine panelled door with a decorative surround, sheltered by a porch supported on thin Tuscan columns. The ground floor features four sash windows, while the first floor has seven sash windows. Inside, there is a moulded timber buttoned ceiling on the ground floor.
