Description
No. 7 The Close is a former house, now used as an office, dating from the late 18th century, with a later extension on the right side. The building is constructed of red brick and covered with black pantiles. It stands three storeys high and has five bays. The central entrance features a panelled door topped by a semi-circular fanlight, flanked by Tuscan pilasters and an open pediment. The building has sash windows throughout, which include glazing bars and are adorned with rubbed brick flat arches. A modillion cornice runs along the top. The roof is double-pile. The right-hand extension has two blind windows on the first floor and two mullion and transom windows on the ground floor, with one window opening blocked and relocated to the right. Inside, the left-hand back room of the late 18th-century block boasts a fine Adam ceiling and cornice frieze. The roof structure features two spans.
