Description

This is a terrace of four houses located on the north-west side of Newmarket Road, dating from the mid-19th century, with later alterations. The houses are built of painted brick with a slate roof and feature four brick ridge chimneys. The terrace has two storeys and an attic, with nine windows on the first floor. Pilasters mark the bay to the right of centre and the original ends of the terrace. There are two steps leading up to each panelled front door; a pair of doors are located to the left of centre, and a single door to the right. The overlights above the doors have glazing bars set in lead cames. Fluted pilasters and fluted Doric columns support porches with Triglyph friezes. Number 77B has a 20th-century front door. Most windows have glazing bars under flat, gauged brick arches. A single-bay extension has been added to the left, featuring cambered arches. A canted ground-floor bay window has been added to the right of number 77, and a pedimented dormer is also present.
