Description
Nos. 59 and 61 on St. Benedict's Street are shops dating from the late 18th century, refurbished in 1984. The buildings are constructed of red brick, which is painted at the ground floor, and feature a pantile roof. They form a street range with rear blocks that flank a yard. The structure has three storeys and five bays, with 20th-century shopfronts. A central carriage entry is highlighted by a three-centre brick arch. Sash windows with glazing bars and rubbed brick flat arches are present throughout. The two-storey rear blocks have off-centre doors, with No. 61 featuring simple pilasters and an architrave, as well as a mullion and transom with one sash window.
