Description

The remains of St Benedict's Church are located on St. Benedict's Street. This building is the tower of a former parish church that was destroyed during World War II. It dates back to the 11th century and features a round tower made of flint, with lancet windows. The top stage of the tower is octagonal and includes stone quoins, as well as alternating blind and Y-tracery openings. For further details, refer to M. Atkin's "Excavation in St. Benedict's Church," published in the East Anglian Archaeology Report No. 15, part 1 in 1982, pages 11-29.
