Description
Hellesdon War Memorial is located next to the churchyard of the Parish Church of St Mary, which is a Grade II* listed building. The memorial is prominently placed on a small green area and is made of rough-hewn granite. It features a cross with a wheel head that stands about 4 meters tall, resting on a two-stage tapering plinth with a two-stepped base below. The plinth has inscriptions made of attached metal lettering.
The main dedicatory inscription on the front face of the upper stage of the plinth reads: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN LOVING MEMORY OF THE MEN OF HELLESDON WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918" followed by 15 names. Below, on the lower stage, it continues with "1939 - 1945" and 22 names.
The cross is surrounded by a rectangular pavement made of slab paving.
