Description
The Old Stables to Hellesdon House, dating from the early 19th century, consists of stables and service accommodation that likely includes an original wing of Hellesdon House. The building is two storeys high with an attic and is arranged in three ranges around a cobbled courtyard. The central range features a panelled door on the right with a plain overlight set in a simple doorcase topped with a small hood. There are two first-floor windows with sashes that have glazing bars, both set under cambered brick arches, and a box cornice above. The roof has two gabled dormers with casement windows and a bell cupola. The left wing has a similar door in the centre flanked by 16-pane sash windows. To the left, there is a double-leaf door with raised and fielded panels, which has a blocked fanlight with radial glazing bars in a recessed round-headed gauged brick arch. A low flat-roofed range on the right adjoins the west front of Hellesdon House. The left bay of the left wing connects to a larger range of stables to the east, which is not of special architectural interest.
