Description

Hellesdon House is a mid-19th century house constructed of yellow brick with rendered details, and topped with a hipped slate roof and three yellow brick chimneys. The house is arranged in an L-shape. The south and west facades have an irregular arrangement, featuring a mitred corner and canted bays on the west side. A half-glazed double-leaf door is positioned centrally, flanked by fluted pilasters and two fluted Doric columns supporting a dentilled hood with a plain entablature. The windows on the west side have sash windows with glazing bars set within lugged architraves; windows in the later south wing are framed by flat gauged brick arches. A moulded box cornice runs along the top of the building. A single-storey extension built in the late 19th century is located to the left of the west front. A plain panelled brick parapet is seen at the rear of this extension, and it forms part of the Old Stable Yard.
