Description
Nos. 10 to 12 on The Close are 18th-century houses with a 16th-century spine wall, featuring red brick and a pantile roof. Each house has three storeys and three bays, with the center house set back. They have central panelled doors with wide surrounds that include narrow panels on the outside, consoles, and flat hoods. The houses also feature semi-circular fanlights and sash windows with rubbed brick flat arches. There are two string courses between the ground and first floors, with balustrading beneath the central window, and a modillion cornice. Inside No. 12, a blocked 16th-century window can be seen from the cellar stairs, and on the first floor, there is a large 16th-century window showing evidence of a transom and lozenge mullions.
