Description

No. 74 The Close is a former house, now used as an office, dating from the 19th century. The building is constructed of brick and features a slate roof. It stands three storeys high, plus a semi-basement, and has four bays. On the left side, there is an off-centre single storey entry bay that includes a panelled door and a pedimented door-case with pilasters and an entablature. The central section has a two-storey canted bay that spans two bays and is topped with a stone cornice and a pediment on the parapet. The building has sash windows throughout, which include glazing bars and rubbed brick flat arches. A stone stringcourse runs between the ground and first floors, and the roof is hipped.
