Description
Nos 22 and 24 High Street are a pair of good early 18th century houses with a red brick front. The left side features a Dutch gable, and the building has a parapet with a moulded cornice and string course. The earlier core is topped by a steep gable-ended roof covered in pantiles. The houses are two storeys tall with an attic, which includes a window in the Dutch gable. There are five sash windows with glazing bars, four of which have thick glazing bars, and they are topped with flat rubbed brick arches. The central and right-hand doors are fielded panel doors with two glazed panels each. A Royal fire insurance plaque is located on the first floor, left of centre. Brick chimney stacks are present at each end. Inside, the ground floor room of No 24 features panelling with a cornice and a pilastered chimneypiece.
