Description
This is a 16th-century timber-framed public house located on the west side of Little Walsingham High Street. It has a steep roof covered in black-glazed pantiles, with overhanging eaves supported by carved brackets. The building is two storeys high with attics, the gable end featuring attic windows. The first floor is jettied, displaying close-set timber studs with plastered and painted brick infilling, and a later applied moulding to the bressummer. The left-hand end wall has a moulded brick corbel and flint panels featuring painted heads and small shields. The ground floor is stuccoed, with two tall casement windows on the left with glazing bars. A corner entrance is positioned to the right, featuring an early 19th-century bowed shop window on either side, framed by moulded architraves and cornices. The original bowed glazing has been replaced with three late 19th-century arched lights with leaded panes. The north-facing return side has two large jettied gables, supported by carved brackets, and includes two 17th/18th-century casement windows with leaded panes. The first floor displays close-set studding and four 17th/18th-century mullion/transom casement windows, while the ground floor has two sash windows with glazing bars.
