Description
This is a 17th-century barn located 20 meters north-east of Manor Farm in East Ruston. The barn is constructed of brick and features a thatched roof, aligned in a north-south direction, forming the east side of a courtyard. The west side is obscured by 20th-century extensions that are used as garages, which include a sliding garage door at the southern end.
The east side of the barn has full-height timber doors to the south and two additional segmental doors to the north. It has a gabled roof with one sloping dormer. The south gable features two square windows located below a platband at the eaves line, and the gable is stepped with moulded brick kneelers. The north end connects to a second barn. The roof structure includes tie beams supported by straight braces, queen struts to the principals, two tiers of butt purlins, collars, and straight windbracing.
