No 44 and No 48 Staithe Street are two-storey buildings dating from around the 18th century. They are constructed of stucco that is lined and painted, with a plinth and a pantile roof. The front features three near-flush-frame sash windows, with part of the building having an eaves band. No 44 has a six-panel door and a slightly higher roof, and it is set back a bit from No 48. The latter was originally part of a pair and has a central chimney. On the ground floor of No 48, there is a near-flush-frame sash window with glazing bars. The shop front of No 48 is an early to mid-19th century wooden design, featuring pilasters and a central entrance with double doors and a fanlight. These buildings are part of a group that includes Moyshiel Restaurant, Nos 48 to 54 (even), and Nos 60 to 78 (even) along with the Courtyard.
