Description

Steward’s House, located in Blacksmith’s Yard, is a late 17th or early 18th century cottage. The building is constructed of flint with brick dressings and has a red pantile roof. It is a two-storey structure with four windows. On the ground floor, there are four windows, three being casement windows with glazing bars set within blocked brick surrounds, each with a simple segmental rough brick arch. The first floor has three casement windows with glazing bars in later openings. Brick end quoins mark the early end line of the building. A four-panel door, with raised and fielded upper panels, is set within a simple stucco architrave. Brick gables feature kneelers, brackets, a dentil eaves cornice, a coped parapet, and a 20th-century end stack.
