Description

This is an outbuilding at Norwich House Stores, dating from the 17th century, with its eaves raised in the 19th century. The structure is built of flint and brick, topped with a pantile roof. The walls are primarily flint, featuring chamfered brick quoins that have been repaired at the north-west corner. There is a three-light ovolo mullion window with brick reveals on the east and west faces, and below the east window, there is a blocked opening leading to the basement. Above the flint walls, where the eaves have been raised, there is a brick wall, but the moulded brick kneelers of the original gable are still visible. A 19th-century single-light casement window is present on the north gable, along with a 20th-century door on the same side.

Inside, there are steps leading down to the basement, which has a studwork surround that is chamfered for the doorway. The basement features rectangular niches on the south and east walls. From the entrance, steps lead up to a single room that retains the tie beam of the original roof above the windows. The floor and two beams were inserted in the 19th century, and there are additional steps leading up. It has been suggested that this building may have originally served as a weaver's shed.
