Description

A barn and attached dwelling dating to the 17th century, constructed of flint with brick dressings and a pantile roof. Originally located on Cromer Road, the barn is situated on Felbrigg Road. It is a three-bay barn with a single-cell dwelling attached. The facade facing the farmyard now features a large central opening to the barn, created in the 19th century using brick dressings. Flanking this opening are two blocked 17th-century doorways, with a doorway on the left side incorporating a two-light mullioned window. At the rear of the barn is a large central door flanked by slit windows.

Inside the barn, the roof has been repaired and consists of three bays with tie beams and collar beams, along with staggered purlins and some arched wind-braces. A partition wall of flint incorporates a blocked 17th-century doorway, with the upper portion of the wall plastered. This wall once separated a room with a chimney; a tie beam with a beam below reveals notches that formerly held joists. Two rows of purlins are present, the upper row incorporating arched braces. A covered way connecting to Flaxmans Farmhouse is located to the west. To the west of the barn is a cowshed with altered openings, attached to another outbuilding.
