Description
Shrublands is a house located on the south side of High Street in Fincham. It dates from the early 18th century and has a later addition. The building is constructed of brick and features a pantiled roof. It stands two storeys tall and has three bays, with an additional bay added to the west in the mid-18th century. The eastern block is symmetrical and has a panelled door set in a fluted doorcase, which is topped by a square hood supported by scrolled console brackets. There is a flat brick string course, and the sash windows, which have glazing bars, are set under segmental arches on the ground floor. The roof is bell-based and gabled, with an external stepped stack on the eastern side and a rebuilt stack at the original west end. The gable heads show tumbling, and the western bay has similar architectural details but features a moulded brick eaves cornice and an internal gable stack.
