Description
The Bells is an early 18th-century house located on the south side of High Street in Hemingford Grey. It is two storeys tall and features two single-storey rear wings, with the left-hand wing raised half a storey over a cellar. The building is constructed of old red brick and colour-washed brick, topped with plain tile roofs. It has a ridge stack and end stacks, as well as a saw-tooth eaves cornice and verge. There are three modern casement windows with leaded lights on both floors, accompanied by raised and fielded panelled shutters. The main entrance door consists of four panels and two flush panels, set within an architrave that features a moulded cornice and dentil enrichment. Inside, there are open hearths in the hall and kitchen, a fine corner cupboard, and reset 18th-century balusters in the modern staircase.
