Description

Broom Lodge is an early 18th-century house located on the High Street in Hemingford Grey. It includes two parallel rear wings that share a common wall. The house is constructed of local yellow bricks with an old plain tile roof, shaped parapet gables, and end stacks. The parapet gables of the rear wings are tumbled. The front features a range of five original hung sash windows with ovolo moulded glazing bars, and four similar windows are set within segmental arches at ground-floor level. A central door is fitted with bolection-moulded panels within a moulded architrave. A band separates the ground and first floors.

The interior contains an original closed string pine staircase with three flights, featuring turned balusters, square sectional newel posts, and a moulded handrail. The ceilings incorporate chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
