Description

Grove House is a vicarage, now a private house, dating from approximately 1820. It is constructed of clunch with a gault brick facade and returns, and has a slate roof. The house is two storeys high and arranged in three bays, with a bowed central bay extending the full height to form a Greek Revival entrance porch. The porch features a pair of Roman Doric columns set between deep, convex pilasters with incised capitals. It contains a panelled door within panelled reveals and a shouldered doorcase, flanked by shallow clasping pilasters. A flat brick string course runs between the storeys. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, each set beneath a gauged skewback arch. An eaves cornice is detailed with paired modillions. The roof is hipped, with a flat conical extension over the central bow. Symmetrical chimney stacks are visible on the rear roof slope.
