Description
Nos. 61 and 62 High Street are two shops in a short terrace built around 1825. They are constructed of red brick, with No. 61 featuring a pantile roof and No. 62 having a slate roof. Both buildings are three storeys high and consist of two bays each. The shopfronts were updated in the 20th century.
No. 61 has two sash windows on each upper floor, which include glazing bars and are topped with gauged skewback arches. In contrast, No. 62 is illuminated by two leaded casements on the first floor and two horned sashes on the second floor, all also featuring gauged skewback arches. A projecting timber string course, resembling a miniature cornice, runs between the first and second floors of both properties. The roofs are gabled, with No. 62 having a steeper pitch. There is an internal gable-end stack on the south side of No. 62, which also includes a pedimented dormer fitted with a sash window.
