Description

No. 56 High Street is a shop dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of brown brick with gault brick dressings and features a slate roof. The building has three storeys and is arranged in six bays along a curved street frontage. The entire length of the ground floor has a plate glass shopfront. Above, the windows consist of horned sashes without glazing bars, with the first-floor windows set in arched recesses made of gault brick, while the second-floor sashes are positioned under gauged skewback arches. The building has a corbelled eaves cornice and a gabled roof with three stacks placed at intervals. The interior does not have historic interest. This building is included for its group value.
