Description
Rudham Grange is a farmhouse that consists of three sections built around 1700, in the 18th century, and around 1800. It is constructed from red brick and features a black glazed pantiled roof. The building is two storeys high with attics. The section from around 1700 is located at the north end and was extended to the west to create an 18th-century "L" plan. This was later filled in at the southeast to form a double pile rectangle around 1800. The original 1700 section now serves as the north end services of the extended house, although its facade is obscured by a lean-to.
On the ground floor, there is a three-light casement window, and on the first floor, there is a sash window. The west facade has seven windows arranged in groups: four to the north, indicating the extent of the 1700 build, and five to the south. All windows are sashes with glazing bars set under flat rubbed brick arches. A mid-18th-century wooden door architrave features pilasters, an open pediment, and an arched fanlight with glazing bars, along with single panel reveals and intrados, leading to a six-panel raised and fielded door.
The east front, dating from around 1800, has a central three-window, two-storey canted bow, with two windows on both the north and south sides. There is an off-centre tripartite doorcase from around 1840, which includes glazed sidelights and a raised and fielded panel door, topped with a console bracket pentice canopy. The roof is hipped at the north end and has two ridge stacks, with two south gables featuring end stacks.
