Description
The Duke's Head Public House is a former public house dating from the 17th century and later. It is constructed of carstone with brick dressings, and features a 19th-century brick addition on the first floor, topped with red pantiles. The building is two storeys high and has three windows on each floor. The ground and first floors have three large pane plate glass sash windows with glazing bars, all from the 19th century. The three ground floor windows are highlighted with brick rustication. Above the entrance, there are two brick lozenges inscribed with the date 1663 and the initials HK. The building has an off-centre boarded porch from the 20th century and a 20th-century door on the south side. A brick dentil eaves cornice runs along the top. There is one stack at the north end and another on the ridge. The south end gable, made of clunch with brick dressings, features two first floor and two attic rectangular fire windows that are blocked and of different builds. The gable also has a brick lozenge. At the rear, there is a two-storey outshut lean-to.
