Description

The barns at Church Farm, located approximately 20 meters south of Church Farm House, date from the 18th century. They are two attached barns that share a continuous roof, constructed from carstone and clunch with brick dressings, and topped with a corrugated asbestos roof.

The southern barn features four sections made of galletted carstone blocks with brick dressings. It has a large doorway with a basket arch above the third section, three ventilation slits, and a south return that includes a large 20th-century doorway made of corrugated iron. Inside, the barn has clunch walls, an opposing doorway, original tie beams, and renewed roof rafters.

The northern barn, which was added later, contains two sections made of galletted clunch and carstone, with a brick buttress situated between the two barns. The first section has a smaller doorway compared to the southern barn, featuring a segmental arch. The interior mirrors that of the southern barn. Additionally, there is a lower attached addition to the north, built from carstone and brick, incorporating a few flints, flint dressings, and pantiles.

These barns are included in the listing for their group value.
