Description
The churchyard wall, gate piers, and entrance gates located to the west and south of the Church of St Mary in Snettisham date back to the 18th century. The wall is constructed from rubble carstone, with some clunch flint and brick, and features brick dressings and stone copings. It runs from the entrance to the Old Vicarage at the north, extending to the west entrance of the churchyard, then along Old Church Road, turning at right angles along the churchyard to the south entrance.
The west entrance to the churchyard includes two gate piers made of raised chamfered rusticated carstone blocks, with stone plinths and coping. These support a late 18th-century wrought iron overthrow arch bracket, which has two opposed curved brackets holding a 19th-century lamp at the center. The entrance features two simple cast iron gates with spear-topped rails, which also serve as dog rails at the base. The south entrance from Church Road has two rusticated carstone piers with stone copings and two gates with spear-headed rails.
