Description
Norton House, located at 9, 10, and 11 Norton Hill, is a terrace of cottages that dates back to the early 19th century. The building is constructed from coursed, squared carstone with brick dressings and features a smut pantiled roof. It stands two storeys high and was originally three separate cottages, now combined into one dwelling.
Architecturally, it exhibits a Gothick style with four ground floor two-light casement windows that have switch tracery and Gothic arched heads, along with brick arches. The first floor has four casements with similar details. There are three ground floor two-light French doors, which are replacements of earlier doors, but the Gothic arched brick heads above them remain. The building has brick end quoins and brick dressings around the openings. The hipped roof is topped with two brick ridge stacks. Both the east and west returns feature one ground floor and one first floor switch tracery Gothic arched headed casement. Additionally, there is an outshut at the rear.
