Description
Nos. 117 and 118 on Norfolk Street in King's Lynn are early 18th-century shops and flats, which have been refronted in the early 19th century. The building features fragmentary evidence of timber-frame construction, with the main structure made of brown brick and a plain tiled roof. It has two storeys and a dormer attic. The ground floor has two 20th-century shopfronts, while the first floor contains two sash windows, one of which (on No. 118) has been replaced with a 20th-century fixed window. Both windows are topped with gauged skewback arches. The building has a saw-toothed parapet cornice beneath a gabled roof and two sloping dormers, although their windows are not visible from the street. There are ridge stacks on both the left and right sides, with the right one dating from the 19th century. Inside, there is some evidence of timber-frame construction, and the doors feature H-L hinges. Access to the attic is not available. The building is included for its group value.
