Description

Austin House is an early 18th-century house with a mid-18th-century facade, located in Austin Street, King’s Lynn. The building is constructed of brown brick with red brick returns, while the north and east sides are rendered. The front roof is tiled with plain tiles, and the rear with pantiles. It is two storeys high with a dormer attic, arranged in four bays. A late 19th-century four-panelled door is positioned to the right of the centre, featuring two glazed upper panels, a four-vaned fanlight, and panelled reveals. The door is surrounded by an engaged Tuscan column doorcase supporting a plain architrave. Late 19th-century canted bays with plate glass sashes are located on either side of the entrance. The remaining windows are mid-19th century horned sashes with glazing bars, each set within a gauged skewback arch. A dentil timber eaves cornice sits beneath a plain parapet. The gabled roof incorporates four dormers fitted with aluminium windows. Internal gable-end stacks are located to the west, partially external to the east, and there is a ridge stack left of centre.
