Description
The North Gateway to the Friary precinct, dating from the 15th century, is located on the south side of Austin Street in King's Lynn. This structure is built of brick with ashlar dressings and features a plain tiled roof. The north side showcases a central four-centred stone arch adorned with continuous wave mouldings, which now leads into a deep niche. Remnants of the stone jambs are still visible, and the brick relieving arch has been rebuilt. The roof slopes up to a crenellated parapet, which is more prominent when viewed from the south side. On this side, there is a blocked four-centred arch that displays fragmentary remains of the hollow-chamfered stonework.
