Description

The length of the town wall in King's Lynn is a historical structure likely first built under a murage grant in 1266, related to the East Gate. It was breached in 1277 and probably rebuilt with further murage grants in 1294 and 1300. The wall is constructed from carstone, ashlar, and brick, and has no roof. The design features randomly coursed ashlar and carstone blocks, with ashlar arrow slits on the east side and a series of depressed brick relieving arches on the west side, which were once open. This structure is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
