Description
North Guannock Gate and a portion of the town wall in King's Lynn date back to the late 13th century. The remains have been consolidated and romanticized in the 19th century. The structure is made of brick, carstone, and ashlar. It features a central pointed dying arch that springs from square turrets, which are topped with a crenellated parapet that is also repeated on the turrets. There is one arched opening on each side beneath a punched oculus, along with additional crenellations. Crenellated walls extend north and south from this point, with three segmental brick niches on each side serving as arrow slits. Overall, the site presents a symmetrical Picturesque garden composition.
